심사 기준

Structure of Essay (25점)

-Contains background and introduction
-Contains clear body paragraphs
-Contains effective conclusion
-Contains transitional sentences between paragraphs
-Reasons presented follow order of importance

Argument: Thesis and Topic Sentences (25점)

-Thesis is strong and identifiable
-All topic sentences support thesis appropriately
-Each body paragraph begins with a clear topic sentence
-Argument is overall convincing and effective
-Essay is entirely comprehensible

Support: Evidence and Examples (25점)

-Examples given support the topic sentence
-Evidence is from reliable sources
-Each body paragraph has minimum two pieces of evidence
-Evidence effectively proves thesis
-All evidence is cited

Format (25점)

-Less than 10 capitalization or spelling errors
-Less than 10 grammatical errors
-All paragraphs are indented and written in block style
-Length of paragraphs balanced and appropriate
-Title and n-text citations are formatted properly (MLA or Chicago style)
